Potato Cake

Potatoes for dessert? Surprised? Try it for once and you will just love the flavor of this innovative new dish.


  • 1 cup ‏butter, melted
  • 2 cups ‏sugar
  • 2 ‏eggs
  • 1 cup ‏potatoes, mashed
  • 1 teaspoon ‏vanilla extract
  • 2 cups ‏flour
  • 1/4 cup ‏cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon ‏baking soda
  • 1 cup ‏milk
  • 1 cup ‏nuts, chopped


  1. Combine sugar and butter, keep it separately. Beat the eggs for a few minutes with the electric beater till the batter swells up and stiffens. Add potatoes and beat again. Add the rest of the ingredients one by one while you are still beating. Leave the nuts aside.

  2. Take a baking pan, grease it with oil. Sprinkle a little flour on it or cover it with butter paper. Put this pan in an oven preheated at 350 deg for forty minutes. You can always perform the toothpick check to see whether the cake’s ready or not. Insert the toothpick near the center of the cake. If the tooth pick comes out clean, it means its ready.

  3. Cool it and serve.
