Manti is a Turkish Dumpling filled with spiced lamb and served with yogurt. It is one of the favorite dishes of turkey and is simply irresistible. Give it a try and I am sure everyone in your family will not only loves this dish but also craves for it.

For Dough

  • 2 cups ‏flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ‏salt
  • 1 ‏egg
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup ‏Lukewarm Water
  • 2 tablespoons ‏oil

For Filling

  • 300 g ‏ground beef
  • 2 ‏onion (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ‏salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ‏black pepper powder
  • 1/4 cup ‏parsley (finely chopped)

For Oil and Yogurt Sauce

  • 2 cups ‏yogurt
  • 2 ‏garlic cloves (mashed)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ‏salt
  • 1/4 cup ‏Butter/Olive Oil
  • 1 tablespoon ‏paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ‏dried mint
  • 1 tablespoon ‏tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons ‏water

Directions:

  1. First make the dough by adding flour and salt in a large bowl. Now add beaten egg and water. Mix with your hands. Note: Slowly add water in steps.

  2. Knead the dough well for 6 to 8 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

  3. Cover the dough and set aside for 30 minutes.

  4. Meanwhile take a bowl, combine ground beef, finely chopped onion ,salt, grounded black pepper and finely chopped parsley. Mix well.

  5. Divide the dough into 2 pieces. Take one piece and place on floured surface. Cover the other piece.

  6. With the help of a rolling pin flatten the dough as thin as you can. Then take a sharp knife, cut the dough into small squares.

  7. Add little of the filling in the middle of each square. Bring the corners together at the top and then press it tightly to seal the dumpling. Place on a floured plate. Make all the dumplings with the same procedure.

  8. Take a big pot, add water and salt and bring it to boil. Add dumpling in boiling water. Stir with a wooden spoon, make sure not to cover the pot.

  9. Cook on medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes or until dumplings soften. Drain them and transfer it into serving plates.

  10. Meanwhile when dumpling is boiling make yogurt sauce. Mix yogurt, mashed garlic and salt in a bowl. Set it aside.

  11. Heat oil in a pan and add tomato paste. Cook on low heat. Add paprika and dried mint. Stir and remove from flame.

  12. Pour the yogurt sauce over dumpling and drizzle some oil sauce over it before serving.
