Try this very easy and tasty recipe of murgh musalam at home with the exceptional flavor and aroma of all spices. This dish will truly make your day .


  • 2 kg ‏chicken (1 whole)
  • 4 tablespoons ‏white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons ‏salt
  • 1 ‏onion
  • 1 cup ‏yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon ‏garlic crushed
  • 1 tablespoon ‏ginger crushed
  • 2 tablespoon ‏red pepper
  • 1 tablespoon ‏turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon ‏black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon ‏coriander, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ‏cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon ‏garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon ‏Ajwain (bishop's weed)
  • 1 tablespoon ‏chaat masala
  • 5-6 ‏lemon
  • 5-6 ‏green chilies
  • ‏oil for frying


  1. Add salt and vinegar to the chicken and spread it well. Leave it for at least 2 hours. Keep on turning the chicken upside down during these two hours so that the chicken will be well marinated.

  2. In another bowl add all the remaining ingredients except onion and mix well.

  3. Drain out all the watery contents of the chicken and with the help of sharp knife make cuts on chicken.

  4. Now marinate the chicken with the mixed ingredients. Spread the mixture well on the chicken and leave it over night.

  5. Add oil in a pan and place it over medium heat. Add onion and stir fry until golden brown.

  6. Add the marinated chicken (and not the marination) to the pan and fry chicken for 15 minutes.

  7. Now add the mixture (in which chicken was marinated) to the pan. Cover and cook until chicken is tender and fully cooked. Note: While cooking keep on turning the chicken sides

  8. Dish it out, sprinkle some chat masala over it while it is hot. Serve with fries and your favorite dips.

  9. (Optional step) Spread the cooked gravy evenly over the chicken and then serve hot.
